Meet Our Founder—Garrett Cunnington

Garrett Cunnington founded Loudoun Lighting with a simple philosophy: great outdoor lighting should be beautiful, functional, and thoughtfully designed for the property.

Before entering the outdoor lighting industry, Garrett spent two decades in the corporate world, including leadership roles at IBM and in financial sales. Today, he combines that experience with hands-on knowledge of lighting design and installation.

Garrett works directly with clients to understand their homes, priorities, and vision before recommending a solution. His approach blends design creativity with practical considerations such as fixture placement, performance, maintenance, and long-term reliability.

A member of the Association of Outdoor Lighting Professionals (AOLP), Garrett is committed to continuing education and high professional standards

Originally from Portland, Oregon, Garrett's career took him through New York and Chicago before bringing him to Northern Virginia. Today, he and his wife, Carrington, call Leesburg home with their triplets, Amelia, Abigail, and Gabriel.

Garrett has also contributed his outdoor lighting expertise to Livingetc, where he shared his perspective on garden lighting design, including the use of moonlighting and color temperature to create natural-looking effects after dark.
